Pillars of Peace is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2017 and officially incorporated in January 2019 to provide educational resources and to address a gap in appropriate residential services for Muslim survivors of domestic and gender-based violence in New York City. We are dedicated to creating communities of care and aim to provide culturally-sensitive and linguistically conscious trauma-informed services. Our services are open to individuals of all backgrounds.

Residential Aide
The role of a Domestic Violence Shelter Residential Aide is vital in providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families fleeing domestic violence situations. Residential aides work directly within the shelter facility, offering assistance, guidance, and emotional support to shelter residents as they navigate through challenging circumstances. They ensure the shelter operates smoothly, uphold safety protocols, and facilitate an atmosphere of empowerment and healing for survivors.
Senior Case Manager
Senior Case Manager will provide crisis intervention, case management services, advocacy, emotional support, information and referrals, drafting and filing Order of Protection, court accompaniment and practical assistance to survivors, providing client- centered safety assessments, and risk management plans on site at one of the 5 Family Justice Centers. The Senior Case Manager will oversee our team of Case Managers.
Case Manager
Case Manager will provide crisis intervention, case management services, advocacy, emotional support, information and referrals, drafting and filing Order of Protection, court accompaniment and practical assistance to survivors, providing client- centered safety assessments, and risk management plans on site at one of the 5 Family Justice Centers.
Director of Programs and Operations
The Director of Programs and Operations will be responsible for program development & evaluation, crisis management, staff supervision, and ensuring client-centered safety assessments, risk management plans and case management. This is a unique senior staff opportunity to design programming, manage programs and staff and work closely with the Pillars of Peace team around non-profit management and development. A successful individual in this role demonstrates exceptional administrative and managerial abilities, including strategic planning, efficient resource allocation, and effective coordination of programs and services to fulfill the needs of participants/clients and meet funder expectations. They will exhibit strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to excel under pressure while managing multiple projects simultaneously. The individual hired for this position will answer directly to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
Resident Advocate
The Resident Advocate will be part of a team ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and overall good condition of Noora House, an emergency domestic violence shelter designed with sensitivity to the needs of Muslim survivors of gender-based violence. Resident Advocates will also be a first line of support and communication for Noora House residents and will receive training and professional development in the areas of crisis intervention and case management in addition to their essential duties in supporting the function of the shelter facility.
